Bless OTMA: I think Alix is in mourning, as GD George (Nicholas' younger brother) died in 1899.

Alix, the first is probably taken in 1899, while she was pregnant of Maria.

the picture was taken in 1885-so Alix would be 13.

Oh, really? I believed she was taken in 1884 - just in the period when she knew Nicholas...
In "Tsar" by Kurth, there's this photo of Alix when their first mett is described, along with a photo of Nikcy taken in 1884...
maybe they've just messed up the dates...

Wow new to me. Beautiful! Thank you. Alix's looks so much like Anastasia to me there and it's interesting
how they both had bangs...or as they would say: " a fringe "
